Here's a quick roundup of stories you may have missed today.
Hillary Clinton & Donald Trump Make Puppets Great Again
Think this year’s Presidential election is no laughing matter? Think again. Hillary Clinton (I’m with Fur) and Donald Trump (Make Puppets Great Again) puppets will debut at an Avenue Q-sponsored Town Hall-style Presidential debate on September 26 at noon at New World Stages. Yes, the very same day as the real debate. This event will be attended by—and briefly open to questions from—select members of the public, along with members of the Avenue Q cast including Rod (the closeted, Republican Wall Street investment banker), Lucy (who bears a striking resemblance to Melania Trump), Trekkie Monster (noted for his savvy money-making schemes on the internet peddling in porn) and Christmas Eve (a Japanese psychotherapist with immigration, language and assimilation issues). The Tony-winning tuner continues to run off-Broadway at New World Stages—Stage Three.
Memorial Set for Seth Gelblum
A memorial tribute will be held to celebrate the life of Seth Gelblum, prominent theatrical attorney, devoted philanthropist, and beloved member of the Broadway community, on September 25 at 6PM at the Broadhurst Theatre. Immediately following the service, the marquee lights will be dimmed in Gelblum's honor at the Broadhurst, as well as the Gershwin Theatre and Disney’s New Amsterdam Theatre. Doors will open at 5:30 PM, with general admission seating available to the public.
Ruthie Ann Miles & More Get Dreamy
Tony winner Ruthie Ann Miles, along with Mary Bridget Davies, Kingsley Leggs and more Broadway favorites will join forces to appear in Brett Macias’ Neruda and Shakespeare: Baby Makin’ Hits. Macias has set some of Neruda's 100 Love Sonnets and passages from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream to the rhythms of funk, soul, rock and blues; the concert is scheduled to take place on October 4 at Big Apple hotspot The Cutting Room.
NPH's Halloween Nightmares
Tony winner Neil Patrick Harris, his husband, David Burtka, and their cuter-than-words kids Gideon and Harper are the reigning royal family when it comes to awe-inspiring Halloween costumes. Check out below as NPH recently chatted with Seth Meyers about what we might be able to expect from them this year...and the less than impressive suggestions the twins have come up with so far. We've got less than 40 days to prepare our pumpkins, people!
P.S. #tbt Watch the cast of Aladdin get nostalgic when they play an iconic video game from the '90's.
